talents need to be nurtured

PRASANTH NARAYANAN KALAM aims to become Kerala's finest acting school for talented individuals who wish to pursue careers as actor-performers in the entertainment industry, be it theatre, telemedia or cinema. The intensive professional-level course provides specialised training not only in acting, but also in scripting, anchoring, production design and all.

PRASANTH NARAYANAN KALAM is an initiative supported by THIRUVARANGU, one of the oldest and relevant theatre groups in the state. The KALAM is situated in the capital city of Kerala. Round the clock public transport, banking, internet cafes, laundry and recreation facilities are easily accessible from the location.

PRASANTH NARAYANAN  KALAM is a finest center for art and culture especially for theatre and film. It functions under the leadership of the renowned writer - theatre director Mr. Prasanth Narayanan. It is situated in the heart of the Trivandrum city. We have a campus functioning in a rented three storied building at Near Kollur Bridge in Kannammoola - Mulavana road. Trivandrum

KALAM is functioning to preserve and enrich the great Indian cultural heritage through conducting programs of traditional art forms like Kathakali and Koodiyattam.

We conduct programs in association with Kerala State Chalachitra Academy like workshops and film exhibition in our campus. Our other activities are courses in acting for various age groups.

Art is rooted in the soil.

True art of all times is linked to agriculture, for both epitomize the joyful expression of man's creative aspiration.

KALAM means the threshing ground—it is where you separate the wheat from chaff, bringing out the best that is in the individual, discarding all that is crude and worthless.

KALAM is where talent is nurtured and allowed to flourish.

KALAM is beyond time and territory. It receives into its crucible art from all times and all corners of the Earth to create that which is new.

Our mighty heritage of art and agriculture shall not be alienated from the coming generations. KALAM desires the ancient mornings and fulfils their light; projecting forwards her illumination she seeks to enter into communion with the rest that are to come.

KALAM aims to create a generation of self-luminant young artists.

Artistic talent needs to be nurtured from a young age. When the roots run deep, the boughs of wisdom rise triumphant into the skies. KALAM aims for the skies.

We shall offer a wide spectrum of programs from which beginners can choose, according to their liking. We shall work on each individual with a fine chisel the way a sculptor works on marble to create a work of art. We take guidance from Sri K.G. Krishnamurthy.

We follow a syllabus that aims at developing the personality of the individual and laying in his or her mind a strong foundation for expansion as a creative person.

We do not follow any of the usually seen teaching practices. Learning at KALAM shall be a journey together in search of the ideal we all seek—creative excellence, in existence.

Equality is the KALAM message…

It sees tolerance, as the way to creative freedom and Love, the key to seeing the reality of the oneness of it all.
